Winter Solstice

The winter solstice was yesterday, the longest night of the year. It can serve to be a reminder to slow down, pause, and reflect on rest and healing.

However, if you’re like me, this can be a challenging time of year. The cold, dark winter months often have a way of making me feel unsettled and restless. It’s a work in progress, and my loving husband and family support me through the times when I don’t quite feel like myself. What I continue to emphasize is the need for a restful break. A friend told me, you can’t drive the car if the tank is empty.

I’m learning that we experience cycles of high energy and motivation, as well as cycles of rest and healing. They balance each other. Both are needed, and both are essential to our healthy functioning.

My question to you is this: How can you embrace this period of rest?
